So my buddy Kim (affectionately known as Noodles) and I are going as our favourite Pokemon this year to FanExpo in November!
I will of course be going as Charizard because CHARIZARD. Haha!
I just finished my concept for it today after playing Twilight Princess HD for several hours with my man (hehe) and put together all of my references and to-do lists using the really awesome Cosplanner app that Noodles' recommended to me. If you are at all into cosplay, you should definitely check it out! It helps give you an overview of how much work you still need to do which is extremely motivating!
I already have all of my fabric with the exception of the material I will need for the wings. I also still need to order my horns which I will mostly likely get from the same amazing company that did my Maleficent horns (which were a HUGE hit) and I also need to buy my Charizardite necklace.
I opted for smaller wings since I am also making veil poi which I will be using as a fun "attack" accent for this cosplay. I was able to find some really sweet fire print fabric that flows beautifully. I have one poi already made and it was a huge pain with my old machine so before I go any further I need to learn how to use the serger my Mum got me for Christmas because it has a removable piece that allows me to sew really ultra narrow pieces of fabric.
I'm looking forward to sharing more updates for this as I go and hopefully I can pull it all together for November!
This Saturday I went to VancouFur with my best blue fox friend Tynder! I typically only do conventions as a one day thing so I definitely made the most of it and it was an absolute blast!!
As a last minute little thing, I made myself a con badge since I've never had one before and I felt kinda uncool last year hehe... So with minutes to spare before I had to get ready to go, I threw together a little TweakFox badge for myself and I was so happily surprised at the number of people who complimented me on it and asked me where I got it and who made it! I've been feeling really bummed lately since I've been home for weeks now recovering from a car accident I was in and it made me feel really nice to have people give such sweet compliments. ♥
There were so many amazing creations there this year and there was even a wee little owl named Snoopy who got to hang out with us! The weather was AMAZING, we really lucked out because the day before it had been raining like crazy!
Above are some pics from the day! The parade was definitely the highlight. I took so many pictures for Tynder it was pretty epic! I got some fun key chains, we went for lunch and got poutine which was SO GOOD. We ended the day off hanging out in the games room chatting with some of the other attendees.
I'm really looking forward to going next year, but I definitely need to get myself my own purple tail to match my ears!
Here's a pic I did a while back of Tynder and Tweak hanging it out playing games (likely Pokemon) on their trusty DS systems!
