Yes so apparently I am the single most indecisive person on the planet and cannot figure out how I really want to represent myself when it comes to my art. I really thought I had it all figured out but now I'm not so sure I made the right choice... So as you can see, I have switched everything back to the way it was.
I have been really sick for the past 7 days and it has given me a lot of time to reflect on what I am doing as an artist and think about what my actual goals are. I'm a little closer to figuring it out now, but I am not out of the woods yet.
For now I am going back to my old set up, but I am thinking about ways I could improve it and how I might go about that. I've also gone back to deviantART simply because I have a larger following, interest has been picking up, and simply because the idea of starting completely from scratch on another site was a little too scary for me (for now).
I was really hoping to combine my mermaid work with my art work which I still think is possible to some degree, but as I continue to iron out what it is I am doing as a mermaid I think it's better if I have a little more separation between the two. I dunno why this has to be such a challenge for me, being sick hasn't helped me feel any better about it that's for sure.
Alright, that's it for now. Hope you are having a better week than I am!
So here is the sped up footage, with commentary, of the little fox I posted below for my mermaid channel! I hope you enjoy it!
I have decided to make a few changes to my website, I've narrowed things down a great deal in an attempt to simplify things and make it a bit easier for me to deal with alongside some of the mermaid-related work that I do.
I have also decided to take a break from deviantART and move myself over to ArtStation. I like their layout better and I find it easier to browse as well. This of course means I am going to have a lot to move over and I will likely be doing this gradually to keep from stressing out haha!
I will continue to post my artwork here in this blog-style format since I do quite like this set up, but I will no longer be livestreaming through my site. The biggest change you will note is that my YouTube channel link will now take you to my mermaid YouTube page since I will now be including my artwork as part of that channel, rather than having a separate channel that I have to manage.
I just really need to find away to simplify the number of sites and places that I need to update. That is why my main instagram and twitter accounts that I use moving forward will also be under Courtney Mermaid (or Vancouver Mermaid). Since I already spend a great deal of time updating those accounts it simply makes sense.
Another big reason for doing this is my frustration in the fact that nobody really knows me as "TweakFox" online. I have a very small following as TweakFox and a much greater following with more engaged people under Courtney Mermaid.
I hope this isn't super confusing and if you are a fan of the little purple fox, not to worry, she isn't going anywhere, she's just not going to be the main face of my art sites from now on.
Anyway, thanks for your patience as I work through all of this and I hope these changes make things better moving forward!
As some of you guys know, I am a huge mermaid fan and love doing mermaid art in my free time. I've been super busy with work (which has been amazing and I can't believe how lucky I am) and so my spare time has been largely devoted to mermaid-related goodness haha!
Anyway, here are the pieces I've done over the last few months.
Don't forget to click on the images to view larger versions!
Congrats if you made it through all of that art to the bottom of my post haha! I really need to be more on top of updating this site. I spend most of my time updating my mermaid sites (VancouverMermaid.com and MermaidSchool.ca) and so my poor little purple fox gets no love haha!
Sooooo... I've been super busy with my new job (which I am thoroughly enjoying!) and I haven't had a whole lot of time for much more than a bit of animal crossing here and then and I figured for those of you interested in my ACNL adventures you can check out my tumblr here: http://acnewleafadventures.tumblr.com/
ALSO! I finally own the domain name tweakfox.com! I haven't decided what I want to do with it yet but I will keep you updated as I figure it out. I'm also trying to figure out what I want to do with my tweakfox YouTube channel.
Also, for anyone wondering, the little purple fox is TweakFox, it's one word and her whole name. "Tweak" is not her full name. Keep in mind I came up with this when I was roughly 13 years old so no judging, but I kinda like to keep her name just "TweakFox."
Anyway, just a short blog post for today! I hope you are having an awesome week so far!
So over the last few weeks I've started playing Lioden again. I finally refunded those three players who had been waiting for art but I was unable to complete due to lack of time.
I did decide to do some personal art for my den of a few of my lions. I used to do so much TLK fan art when I was still in highschool and it's pretty fun to see how much I've improved over the years.
Anyway! I hope you are having a fabulous week!
So as some of you know already or may have seen on my linkedIN, I have decided to move on from my job at IUGO Mobile Entertainment and I now find myself back in the animation industry working as a Character and Prop Artist for DHX!
I've only been at my new job for 2 days, but I can tell that I am going to love it! Alfie came to work with me yesterday and will be coming in again today and I can't tell you how nice it is to be able to bring your dog with you to work. If I need a break, BAM, puppy cuddles! It's so wonderful.
The people are awesome so far! Everyone has been really welcoming and helpful! The job itself is so good. I'm already learning so much and I woke up this morning super eager to get going (about an hour earlier than I needed to hehe).
The biggest change for me is my new work schedule (I used to get off at 4pm and now I will be getting off between 6pm and 6:30pm) which has been a bit sticky, but I think I'm slowly figuring it all out.
Anyway! I just wanted to post a quick update, since it's been a wee while since my last update... Yes I do have new art to post, but you are gonna have to be patient because I am devoting all of myself to getting up to speed at work and want no outside distractions this week especially.
I hope you are all well!
So this is one of the only pics I actually have of me at a desk (sadly not my desk hehe) in my second year of Traditional Animation at CAP University (it was still CAP College back then). I love this pic because I look all relaxed. I think this picture was taken after Gradshow which would explain being all relaxed haha!
Gradshow was a hellish experience (bot of them were actually). We were all such sleep-deprived zombies (hence the post title) by the end of it that none of us were functioning normally haha!
For this post I wanted to give people looking to get into animation school a few tips to avoid the typical pitfalls that most of us fall into. I'm sure things have changed a bit since I was in school, but there are something things that never change hehe...
So those are just a few of my little survival tips. If you are just getting into school, or are in school now, I wish you the best of luck. Most importantly remember that pain is temporary and that if you want it bad enough it will be worth it, I promise!
With that I would like to wrap up this A to Z Challenge, I will likely do one additional post after the actual end date given that everything you have read thus far has been written in advance to keep me from falling behind or missing days.
Thank you so much for reading my posts, I hope you have enjoyed reading them as much as I enjoyed writing them!
